Somtum Jae Dang

"Somtum Jae Dang" is a beloved Isaan restaurant located near Chulalongkorn University. Founded more than 30 years ago by a chef from Maha Sarakham Province, this humble eatery started as a small street stall and has grown into a full restaurant while maintaining its simple charm. Known for its incredibly popular somtum (papaya salad), the place gets packed with students and locals during lunch, often forming queues. Somtum, a national dish in Thailand, is also a favorite among Japanese who enjoy spicy food. Watching the somtum being prepared at the front of the shop is a must-see.
